| 11 of 13 people found the following review helpful  Would not put my life on them, By SL (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Mad Rock Ultralight Carabiners - Straight & Bent Wire Gate - Singles & 5-packs (Sports) I owned a dozen of these carabiners and the variations in manufacturing were cause for alarm.In particular, the holes for the wire-gate varied greatly in diameter and shape from one biner to the other -- to a point that wire could be ripped out of some of the biner. I contacted Mad Rock 3 times, even sent them photos of the problem, and their response was merely "Oh, yeah, I see; send them back and we'll refund you." They might be cheap, but my life is worth more than the ~$2 of savings over good wiregates. If you want quality super-light biners go for the Trango Superfly, Black Diamond Oz, DMM Phantom, Camp, Metolius, Petzl, or any of the other brands that have a solid reputation for quality control. I give them 2 stars because I haven't heard of anyone die from one yet. Having said that, I love Mad Rock because they push prices down on climbing gear. And can you believe it's probably also the least expensive. Incredibly light yet almost full size. It's similar in size to the Trango Superfly and the same weight. These come fully anodized and in both a straight and bent wire gate version that work smoothly, and has a hooded nose to help protect the gate from opening. Larger and more usable than compact ultralights like the BD Oz and Neutrino.
