I have worn them in the ring, jogging, and at the gym. They are a great prophylactic for preventing ankle sprains if you are prone to them or as a step down brace when recovering from one. They are easy to put on adjust with a single wrap aound strap and fit in every pair of shoes I own including my Vibram 5Fingers. I would not suggest these for new or persistant sprains. I wanted a sturdy one that wouldn't limit my mobility too much or destroy my shoe. This cast was a great buy. I wear soccer shoes and play a bunch of sports in them, and this cast did an excellent job of allowing me to play without worrying if my ankle was going to turn over. One should note that it does make your shoe fit a little tighter. Also, I recommend wearing long ankle socks so the cast is not in direct contact with your skin, so it doesn't rub and tear. The first thing you should notice is the sizing. A medium ranges from 7.5 to 11.5. How can a product that is supposed to keep a serious athlete from an ankle injury support such size differences? Do you feel, as an athlete, that somebody who wears a 7.5 shoe(that is my size) can get ankle support from a device that can fit the foot of someone who wears a 11.5? That should have been the first clue, but I was too stupid to think that through. This brace is made poorly in China and will not support any athlete playing any sport. It may be ok for a person jogging, but this will not support you if you make sharp cuts at full speed with weak ankles. My ankle would actually roll inside this brace and that was after I would pull the strap so tight it would cut off circulation.
